Soullovey - Ethos: The health and integrity of your hair is the core principle of my salon. Beautiful hair isn't just about a pleasing photograph. It comes from the day-to-day wear, the ease of self-styling, and the longevity of its appearance. Like a strong foundation, the beauty of your natural hair can be built... and maintained!

The Pearl District Portfolio welcomes Tina Jackson, owner of the salon Soullovey, opening this month in the Pearl District.

Needing to get your hair done has taken on a whole new meaning over the past year. As we adapt to our new world, DIY hair solutions and looking greasy over zoom calls are beginning to lose their charm. And, as we venture out, there are safety concerns that we face in these challenging times. Hair salons all over the state are required to mask up, maintain distance, control airflow, and clean surfaces and materials between clients. Finding the right combination of expertise, creativity, and a safe/healthy location is not as easy as pre-COVID times.

Fear not! Tina Jackson, the owner, and operator of Soullovey, has come to the rescue! The salon is opening in the Maddox Building, 1231 NW Hoyt St., Suite 303, in the Pearl District this month.

With over a decade of experience, Tina knows hair. She excels with all hair types, balayage, blonding, corrective color, lived-in low maintenance, and coloration and highlights - as demonstrated in the photos below. Not to mention that all of her color services include gloss/color-melt, blow dry, hot tool styling, and a home hair care starter kit for color maintenance! And she’s deadly serious about COVID regulations: “All the chemicals that the state is requiring us to use, I use after every single client.”

Beautiful Style and Color by Soulovey

“I really take pride in the services, and the environment, and the professionalism that I offer my clientele.” - Tina Jackson

Tina is an artist as well as a stylist: she worked as a sculptor before she specialized in hair, and uses that background to inform her styling. Her artistic training is a useful tool in her work and informs the choices she makes with hair. Her clientele love it! Tina also trains other hairstylists. She’d like to offer more intensive, personalized training to a larger group, but given the pandemic, she’s keeping numbers low. Her new location in the Maddox will allow her to expand her operations as a stylist and as an educator.  Not to mention that her vibrant style fits in beautifully with the Pearl Districts’ dynamic urban fabric.

A one woman show.

“I  really enjoyed working by myself, and I haven't found a good fit for a salon, so I just decided to open my own. I plan on expanding and I'm taking up and coming stylists and training them and also mentoring, doing classes.” -Tina Jackson

What’s on the horizon for 2021?

Tina is passionate about providing positive change for her clients. “I want people to have an experience - somewhere they can come to get away with a great vibe and leave feeling like a whole new person. Clients say that they've never had an experience like they have when they come into my studio.”
